Funded under the Erasmus+ Programme, SECOND HALF aims to support coaches and most importantly professional and retired athletes in their transition beyond sport by strengthening their digital skills, career planning capacities, and access to mentoring and employment opportunities. The project places athletes at the centre, offering practical tools and long-term support for sustainable dual career pathways.

The first meeting marked an important milestone, allowing partners to establish a shared understanding of the project’s strategic direction and confirm a common working methodology. The consortium reaffirmed its commitment to close cooperation, transparency, and high-quality implementation throughout the project lifecycle.

Partners agreed on the overall structure of the project, which combines in-person support, digital learning, and a dedicated online career platform designed to remain active beyond the project’s duration.

Following the meeting, partners will move into the research and content development phase, starting with a survey to better understand athletes’ needs related to digital skills and career transitions. The insights gathered will directly shape the workshops, learning materials, and platform content.

The SECOND HALF project is set to deliver tangible, athlete-focused solutions while strengthening cooperation between Olympic Committees and expert organisations across Europe. With a strong partnership and clear strategic alignment from the outset, the project is well positioned to create lasting impact for athletes navigating their “second half” beyond sport.
