The guests of panel moderator Željko Vela were the president of the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Commission for Gender Equality in Sport, Morana Paliković Gruden, and the Commission’s secretary, Mia Baćić. They spoke about the beginnings of the project, which was initiated and conceptually developed by Morana Paliković Gruden, introduced the permanent team of lecturers and practical workshop leaders, and recalled the 13 workshops held so far throughout Croatia. They also proudly highlighted that in April, the International Olympic Committee recognized this project as one of the best practices among national Olympic committees worldwide.
The project “The Voice of Women in Sport” focuses on ensuring equal media treatment of male and female athletes, reducing gender stereotypes and sexism in media coverage of female athletes. Alongside emphasizing their sporting achievements and results, the project also aims to improve the quality of their communication with the media. The educational workshops are designed to help female athletes communicate more effectively with media representatives, prepare the content they wish to share with the public and the media, and enhance the presentation of women’s sports and female athletes on social media platforms.
Plans for the future were also presented – the next workshops are expected to be organized in Slavonia and Lika, while a major “The Voice of Women in Sport” conference is planned for February 2026, most likely in Rijeka. (COC/vk)
