Photo: FaHZurich, 8 September 2022 - Croatia's top athlete Sandra Perković finished second in Discus Throw in the Diamond League finals in Zurich. In Zurich, reigning European and world champion Perković scored 67.31m, 46cm short of her main rival, Tokyo Olympic Champion Valarie Allman of America.
Perković made her best shot in the fifth series, while Allman was in the lead from the start. Already in the first series, the American threw the discus up to 66.23 m, in the third up to 67.77 m, and in the fifth up to 67.73 m. Third place went to Portuguese Liliana Ca with 63.34 meters. Perković will have a chance to fight Allman back in three days at the Zagreb Meeting at the Mladost Stadium by the river Sava.
Remember, the day before, Croatia's best shot putter and reigning European Champion Filip Mihaljević finished fifth in the Diamond League finals, with the best shot of 21.43 meters from the third series.
