Despite the fighting spirit and the new, solid form of our players, the local team – cheered by the audience - once again remained a relentless enigma. Winners of silver are: Rea Banić, Mia Bošnjak, Petra Lovrenčević, Anja Vida Lukšić, Ana Malec, Vanja Perenčević, Saša Sladić, Mia Tupek and Nika Vojnović, with coaches Ivo Kanjugović and Siniša Ostoić.
The Croatian male Olympic Beach Handball Team played well in the semifinals match against Spain (1-1), but bowed down after penalty kicks (6-8). Somewhat depressed because of the missed opportunity for the finals, in the match for the third place our players were defeated by Argentine peers 0-2. In the finals, Portugal was defeated by Spain with 2-1 after penalty kicks.
Weightlifter Hermana Dermiček ended her performance in the category A +63 kg in 10th place. The tenth place was also the final placement of the Croatian sailor Martin Dolenc IKA TT Racing and of our only sailing (Windsurfer - Techno 293+) representative - the windsurfer Palma Čargo.
With silver medal won by beach handball female players, the young Croatian Olympians count four medals so far. Previous team gold medal and individual bronze medal were won by the judoka Ana Viktorija Puljiz and another bronze by takewondoka Lena Stojković, both of whom performed in the category up to 44 kg.
