International Day of Sports was established to celebrate the date (April 6) of opening ceremony of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. In 2016, Zagreb will mark this day with mini-football tournament (April 3 from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. at the NC "Šalata" in the 1st Pavilion of the Zagreb Fair). There will be ten football teams participating at the tournament, two of which are female teams. The participants will sign the Pledge certificate, by which they promise to give their best in implementation of the goals of society's sustainable development. "Sports is an extremely important tool in people's mutual understanding.

Therefore, HDUN believes that the conclusion of this partnership represents a good start towards achieving the objectives from the Resolution on sustainable development program 2030, said the President of the HDUN Petar Popović and thanked his hosts for their cooperation. The agreement was signed by the Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee Josip Čop, Director of the Croatian Olympic Academy Saša Ceraj and President of the HDUN Petar Popović, in the presence of the Coordinator of this project, the Manager of Olympic Projects, Danira Bilić.
