Let us recall that in mid-December, representatives of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County officially received the well-deserved title of European Region of Sport for 2026 in Brussels. This is one of the most prestigious European awards in the field of sport, granted by the organization ACES Europe. Since then, preparatory activities have been underway to promote this prestigious status as widely as possible and to ensure that this part of Croatia—exceptionally committed to sport and recreation—fully lives up to the title in every respect.
The European Region of Sport logo has been designed to symbolize movement, energy, and an active lifestyle, while also reflecting the recognizable geographical shape and the colors of the subregions of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County: Gorski Kotar, the coastal area, and the islands. In this way, it visually emphasizes territorial unity and the diversity of sporting opportunities across the entire county.
Alongside the visual identity, a promotional slogan for the European Region of Sport has also been created: “Začini život sportom”, which in English reads, “Spice up your life with sports.”
The European Region of Sport designation will be systematically incorporated into everyday official communication.
According to financial projections, significant increases in investment in sport are planned for the newly begun year, with nearly EUR 2.3 million allocated from the county budget. (zs pgž/hoo/vk)
