In a friendly conversation, they talked about Croatian-Japanese sports cooperation, as well as about economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The success of Croatian male and female athletes at last year's Olympic Games in Tokyo was inevitably evoked, and on that occasion H.E. Iso Masato informed the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee on the effects of the event and life of the Japanese capital in the post-Olympic period.
President Mateša repeatedly expressed his admiration for the Japanese organizers who organized the unforgettable Olympic Games in almost impossible - pandemic - conditions. He pointed out that the Croatian Olympians in Tokyo achieved the second-best result in terms of the number of medals won since they competed under their own flag and thanked the citizens of Tokyo and the Japanese people for their hospitality during the Olympics.
The distinguished guest from Japan, His Excellency Iso Masato, was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Croatia on 15 March 2022, succeeding H.E. Misako Kaji. He expressed his desire to improve cooperation with Croatia in all areas, including sports.
After two years of no live celebration, this year's celebration of the Day of Japan will take place as usual on Saturday, 3 December, in the Westin hotel's Crystal Hall. (NOC of Croatia/VK)
