Oberan was defeated by Kosovo’s Laura Fazliu in her first appearance, but through a repechage, with victory over France's Melodie Turpin, she reached the fight for bronze. In that fight, Moroccan representative and current African Champion Sarah Harachi earned three strikes, which brought bronze to a young Dubrovnik native, the 11th Croatian medal in Oran.
With an ippon victory against Portugal's Joana Crisostomo Lara Cvjetko made it through to semifinals, where Tunisian Nihel Landolsi was waiting for her. However, in a controlled fight, she was reckless, she made a lever on her elbow in a standing position (waki gatame), which is a prohibited procedure and because of it she was disqualified (hansoku-make) and was not entitled to perform further. Thus, one of the most promising Croatian judokas finished the Mediterranean Games in fifth place.
On Friday, 1 July, Petrunjela Pavić (up to 78 kg), Ivana Maranić (over 78 kg), Marko Kumrić (up to 100 kg) and Marcel Škalec (up to 100 kg) will come out on tatamis.
