The first Croatian gymnast participating at the Olympics and winner of Olympic medal was Dragutin Ciotti, winner of bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928.

The first medal won under the Croatian flag was Olympic silver, won by Filip Ude at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
