The athletes, who might still attain the Olympic standard in the last month, are kayaker Dinko Mulic and the Croatian national basketball team at the qualification tournament in Athens from 14 to 20 July. Swimmers are the most numerous among individual sports athletes; 12 of them have attained the Olympic standards - Duje Draganja, Sanja Jovanovic, Marko Strahija, Mario Todorovic, Gordan Kozulj and Alexei Puninski have attained the A standard, and the rest have attained the B standard. The sailing team will also be quite large – ten athletes will compete in seven crews. Besides the handball and water polo players, 12 basketball players might also increase the number of Olympians. This will be the fifth time that Croatia will participate in the Summer Olympic Games as an independent country.
