The third SAFE HARBOUR project meeting took place on 29–30 June 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany, bringing together representatives of the project consortium to review the progress achieved during the first phase of implementation and coordinate the next steps of the project.
Hosted by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) EU Office and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the meeting provided an opportunity for partners to exchange experiences, evaluate completed activities and discuss the implementation of upcoming project tasks. Over the course of two days, participants worked collaboratively to further develop the project's key outputs while strengthening cooperation among organisations committed to creating safer sporting environments across Europe.
Particular attention was given to the development of the European Response Framework, which aims to provide practical guidance for responding to safeguarding concerns within sport organisations. Partners also discussed the preparation of national safeguarding strategies, ensuring that the project's outcomes can be effectively adapted to different national contexts while maintaining a common European approach.
In addition, the consortium continued its work on establishing the future European Network for Safe Sport, which is intended to facilitate long-term cooperation, knowledge sharing and mutual support between sport organisations beyond the project's lifetime. Interactive workshops and partner discussions enabled participants to exchange examples of good practice, identify common challenges and explore practical solutions for strengthening safeguarding systems throughout the European sport movement.
As a project partner, the Croatian Olympic Committee actively contributes to the development and implementation of the SAFE HARBOUR project, supporting initiatives that promote safe, respectful and inclusive sporting environments for athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and all other participants in sport. Participation in consortium meetings such as this one ensures the exchange of expertise and reinforces the shared commitment of all partners to strengthening safeguarding standards at both national and European levels.
