Croatia will compete in seventeen sports (Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball 3x3, Bowling, Boxing, Gymnastics, Fencing, Handball, Judo, Karate, Sailing, Swimming, Volleyball, Shooting, Taekwondo and Wrestling). The most numerous are our volleyball representatives (36), who will compete in both categories as quite strong teams. In addition, the Croatian National Women's Handball Team will also compete in team sports. The performance of two women's teams significantly affected the gender balance of our competitive delegation which, with 55 male and 50 female athletes, came numerically close to almost equal representation.
Croatian colors at the Mediterranean Games will also be defended by the golden Olympian from Tokyo Matea Jelić and the bronze Olympian Toni Kanaet (both in Taekwondo). Furthermore, most of our aces fighting for medals come from martial arts (Karate, Judo, Wrestling and Boxing). Silver gymnastics Olympian Tin Srbić will also compete in Oran, as well as his representative colleague, currently in excellent shape - Ana Đerek. Croatia will have exceptionally high-quality aces in Shooting, led by Miran Maričić and the brothers Glasnović, and we must not forget our male and female boules players because they brought a golden medal (Pero Ćubela and Nives Jelovica) won at the past Games, as well as sailors led by the Olympian Elena Vorobeva.
The expectations concerning results range within the framework of Croatia's overall ranking in the competition of 25 Mediterranean countries so far, and this implies a place in the Top 10 medalist rankings.
Remember, at the last Mediterranean Games in 2018 in Tarragona, Spain, our ninety-nine female and male athletes won seventeen medals, nine of them gold, five silver and three bronze. In doing so, both our national teams “gilded” their performance in team sports - volleyball and handball players, and Croatia ranked ninth in the ranking of medal-winning countries.
