The event organized by the Office for Sports Programs at the Local Level of the Croatian Olympic Committee was organized for representatives of local sports communities and local and regional self-government units, and the turnout was beyond all expectations. About 80 stakeholders of the sports and public administration system from all over Croatia - from Vukovar and Čakovec to Istria and Konavle - participated in the education at the Croatian Olympic Committee's premises in Zagreb's Dom Sportova. With undisguised satisfaction with the excellent response, the Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee Siniša Krajač in his welcome speech pointed out the importance of applying and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by EU funds at all levels, and stressed that the Croatian Olympic Committee's partner company Project Equa Development will be a support to all interested parties in applying for sports infrastructure projects. The occasion for the professional seminar and panel was the open tender of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which could be heard to be one of the most complex tenders for EU funds so far in Croatia, which is revealed by the topic of the tender "Regional diversification and specialization of Croatian tourism through investment in the development of high added value tourism products - sports and recreational infrastructure of active tourism". The seminar was held by the director of The Project Equal Development Ana Fresl and consultant Slaven Tadić. In addition to the instructions on the process that a particular EU project is going through - from the idea and collection of documentation to the application, financial frameworks have been announced (the total amount under Group 2 of this call is HRK 280 million, and for projects in municipalities and cities in the area of category 1 tourism development index, no more than HRK 66.9 million can be allocated). An estimation conclusion was also made on a dozen projects that could pass the tender in relation to the available financial resources, and with the use of minimal grants - even up to 30. Related to the financing of projects, its parts or additional costs, the head of the PJR project development department, Filip Benjak, explained to the attendees the possibilities of lending through two credit lines of the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR). The panel discussion, with examples of projects and cooperation between public infrastructure and sports federations, was enriched with practical examples from their backgrounds by the Mayor of Bjelovar Dario Hrebak (Bjelovar spa project, football stadiums, etc.) and the mayor of Karlovac Damir Mandić (renovation of the SRC in Karlovac, sports halls and other projects). They also pointed out that, in addition to meeting the legal regulations, the so-called green design is of great importance, which brings additional points to the project in the tender. The objectives of this praiseworthy conference are aimed at acquiring new knowledge about the tender of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, then participating in the discussion on project proposals for this tender and encouraging partnership cooperation between owners and operators of sports infrastructure and sports federations, i.e. representatives of sports. At the end of the educational conference, the lecturers answered the questions of the participants of the seminar. (NOC of Croatia/VK)
