Zagreb, 2 July 2020 – On the second day of July we mark the World Day of Sports Journalists. This year, that date is particularly intriguing because months before its celebration, the profession of sports journalist went through an unusual period of crisis. Due to the lack of sports events, postponed and canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the representatives of the "seventh force" around the world were largely deprived of topics on everyday media content. In such circumstances, many have been declared redundant, others have experienced drastically reduced wages and fees, the crisis is still current and uncertain...

On the 96th birthday of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), founded on July 2, 1924 in Paris, it was this professional organization that questioned the current status of sports journalism, organizing a video conference (via Zoom) for the first time in history. In search of an answer to the question "how much did COVID-19 affect all of us", many conference participants from around the world dealt with another current topic - racism in sports, all moderated by Jura Ozmec, Head of the Croatian Sports Journalists Association (HZSN), in charge if secretarial and treasury affairs in the AIPS.
