Zagreb, November 16, 2018 - The celebrated Split sailor, 34-year-old Olympian Ivan Kljaković Gašpić, was elected as Croatian representative for a prestigious international educational program – the New Leaders Sport Leadership Programme.
The event was organized by the Finnish NOC, with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the European Olympic Committees (EOCs) and the National Olympic Committees of Ireland and Lithuania.
The Croatian National Olympic Committee (in cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Academy) conducted an internal competition by contacting 12 male and female Olympians and of those who accepted the candidature, Ivan Kljaković Gašpić offered the best references. The popular Bambi, after a successful sailing career, went into business (managerial) field and that data contributed significantly to his selection.
Among more than 50 candidates from 27 European countries, 15 male and female participants were selected, and most preferred were those with a status of the Olympians who have recently completed their active sports career and are not older than 40. Once the world's finest sailor in the Finn class met all the necessary conditions. He was chosen to Top 15 male participants, in order to –after training at three workshops and the final conference in 2019 – become in his homeland the creator of changes based on the good management skills as well.
