Zagreb, October 20, 2018 – This year, already traditional Sport and Peace Forum was held on the island of Rhodes (Greece) under the highest auspices of the Prince of Monaco, Alberta II. and Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos. The Forum gathered 350 representatives from 50 countries with the aim of exchanging the best practices, policies and establishing major regional and subregional trends in the Mediterranean.

The Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) participated in the Forum as an example of good practice in conducting of sports programs aimed at promoting the Olympic values and the importance of respecting diversities. The director of the Croatian Olympic Academy, Saša Ceraj, passed on the Croatian Olympic Academy’s experience and the fundamental message of promoting the contribution of sports to the development of peace and tolerance in the society. He again pointed out the important role of sports, educational and non-governmental organizations in creating positive values in the society based on the United Nations resolution "The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", which emphasizes the key role of sports in achieving development and peace and promoting tolerance and respect in the society.

Let us remind you, the Croatian Olympic Academy, the Croatian Olympic Committee and the Croatian United Nations Association marked on April 6th, 2018 - for the fifth consecutive year - the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. They signed a cooperation agreement and realized sports programs involving partners from Qatar, Turkey, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago. In cooperation with the Jesuit Refugee Service and the Croatian Red Cross, they organized an action to collect hygiene supplies and foodstuffs for asylum seekers in Croatia. (COA/COC)
