Zagreb, June 2nd, 2015. - Croatian Olympic Committee and the best known Croatian manufacturer of leather, rubber and rubber-canvas shoes, the company Borovo d.d., signed in Zagreb on Tuesday, June 2, an agreement on economic, promotional and sports cooperation that will last until the end of the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

Top Croatian athletes belong at the very top of the world values, making thus every synergy of sports and Croatian economy extremely important. It is our social obligation to promote Croatian products like these from Borovo - said the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Mateša, welcoming the decision of this renowned company.
The company Borovo, whose tennis shoes Startas were closely associated with major sports events such as Zagreb Universiade in 1987, has provided more than 200 pairs of the best models for the candidates for Rio 2016 and participants of the European Games in Baku. Startas shoes are made by using the same hand-crafted technique as in 1976, from natural materials, canvas and natural rubber, which, according to words of the CEO Gordan Kolundžić, represents an advantage in the quality of this domestic product exported to France, the Netherlands, Korea and other countries.
CEO of Borovo d.d. Gordan Kolundžić and Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee Josip Čop signed the contract in the presence of Zlatko Mateša, representatives of the media and top Croatian athletes (European champion in gymnastics Mario Možnik, silver Olympian, European and World champion in rowing Damir Martin, bronze Olympian in taekwondo Martina Zubčić, volleyball player Mia Jerkov, Maja Poljak and Ana Grbac and an evident candidate for Rio, the boxer Filip Hrgović).
The signing ceremony was attended, among others, by the promoter of Borovo and holder of gold and silver Olympic medal, water polo player Dubravko Šimenc, Assistant to the Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee for Marketing Ranko Ćetković and Borovo's Head of Marketing Jasmina Matiša.
