Minsk, September 1st, 2017 - On September 1st, 2017, Agreement on Hosting the European Games 2019 (EG) was signed in the headquarters of the Belarusian Olympic Committee in Minsk. After the first Games held in Baku in 2015, Minsk will host the second edition of this continental multi-sports competition.
In the delegation of the European Olympic Committees (EOCs) led by the Acting President of the European Olympic Committees Janez Kocijančić was also the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee and a member of the European Olympic Committees’ Executive Committee and Deputy Chairman of EOC’s Coordination Commission for the European Games 2019, now in charge of coordinating the European Games Minsk 2019. Mateša has been involved in the European Games preparations since the very beginning, first as the Chairman of the Working Group for making a Study on the Profitability of the Games Organization, and then as Vice President of the European Olympic Committees’ Coordination Commission for the European Games Baku 2015.
At the European Games in Minsk, which will be held in June 2019, there will be around 8,000 athletes performing in 15 sports disciplines.
