Zagreb, 11 October 2020 - Brothers Valent and Martin Sinković won a silver medal in Coxless Pair at the European Rowing Championships in Poznan (Poland). After convincing victories in previous Championship’s races, the Romanian crew (consisting of Ciprian Tudosa and Marius-Vasile Cozmiuc) were faster than our golden Olympians from Rio in the final race.
Other Croatian representatives at the European Championships failed to make it to the A finals in their disciplines – Coxless Four: Marko Ukropina, Ivan Piton, Anton and Patrik Lončarić took the 9th place in overall rankings, while Damir Martin and Luka Radonić (Single Sculls) took the 14th place.
Although they were twice the Best European Coxless Pair in the previous two years, by winning the title of European runners-up, our biggest aces for medals at the Tokyo Olympics, Martin and Valent Sinković, continued harvesting medals at the European competitions.
The President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) Zlatko Mateša and Secretary General Josip Čop congratulated the Sinković brothers on the new medal in their trophy collection:
Dear Martin and Valent,
with the title of European runners-up, you maintained the continuity of winning medals at major competitions, and this is most important for top athletes like you in these, for sports abnormal times. On behalf of the entire Croatian Olympic Family and our own, we warmly congratulate - you and your coach Nikola Bralić - on winning European silver in Poland, with the wish for a quick return onto the winning tracks!
