Zagreb, 3 June 2020 - Croatian water polo players have learned the date of the qualifying tournament for Tokyo Olympics. By decision of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), the tournament will be held in Rotterdam (Netherlands) from 14 to 21 February 2021.

Croatia will play in the first group with Germany, Russia, Romania, the Netherlands and France, while Greece, Montenegro, Brazil, Canada, Georgia and Turkey will play in the second group. In the competition of the mentioned 11 teams, for Olympic 'visa' our water polo players will need a placement among three best national teams. As a reminder, due to the postponement of Tokyo 2020 Olympics for 2021, the originally planned water polo qualification tournament that should have taken place from 22 to 29 March 2020 in Rotterdam was postponed.

Head coach of the Croatian National Water Polo Team Ivica Tucak believes in strength and skill of his team and believes that with long-term quality preparations, the team can optimally prepare for a demanding pre-Olympic tournament, where a fierce rhythm of play awaits them - eight games in eight days.
