Rome, 7 May 2021 - From the headquarters of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) the good news came to Rome. Croatian ski sensation Zrinka Ljutić, 17, was included among five finalists of the Piotr Nurowski Prize, awarded for the sixth time to the Best Winter Young European Athlete.

The candidates were selected by the EOC’s National Olympic Committees and the EOC’s Expert Commission. In addition to Zrinka Ljutić, who was nominated for the award by the Croatian Olympic Committee in February this year, the finalists of the 6th winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize are: Slovenia's biathlete Lena Repinc, Belgium's snowboarder Evy Poppe, Britain's Kirsty Muir and Estonia’s Henry Sildaru - both freestyle skiers.

The elections will take place within the framework of the 50th EOC General Assembly in Athens, planned for 10 June this year, while the award ceremony will take place on the same day but in the evening. All five finalists will be invited to Athens as guests of the EOC. However, due to epidemiological measures and restrictions on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EOC General Assembly is also possible in the online edition.

Already by entering the finals of this election, Zrinka Ljutić has also secured one of the prize money for supporting the training process as she continues her career: the winner will receive 15,000 EUR, runner-up 8,000, third-placed 5,000, and the fourth- and fifth-placed will both receive 3,000 EUR.
