Zagreb, January 11, 2020 - Croatian skiing representative Filip Zubčić finished second in Giant Slalom in Adelboden, Switzerland and, along with his first stand at the World Cup pedestal, he also achieved the best result of his career so far and – at the same time – the greatest success of our skiers after the retirement of the legendary Ivica Kostelić.
It was Ivica Kostelić who announced – before the start of skiing race on Sljeme – the ascents to the winning pedestals of our extremely talented skiing generation...
Filip Zubčić is a potential Croatian Olympian in the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Olympic program Beijing 2022 and, as of November last year, an IOC’s Olympic Solidarity scholarship holder in a group of ten Croatian potential Olympians for the Beijing Olympics.
The Heads of the Croatian Olympic Committee, President Zlatko Mateša and Secretary General Josip Čop, joined the congratulations sent to Filip Zubčić. In addition, they expressed their beliefs that it is the beginning of comeback of Croatian skiing to the world top, with a ski generation that could very soon replace the World Cup winning pedestals with the Olympic ones.
