Zagreb, 21 November 2020 - On the last day of the Senior European Judo Championships, hosted by Prague, the member of the Croatian national team Karla Prodan won a bronze medal in the -78kg category. It is a confirmation of her excellent season, as she has already won a silver medal at the recent Junior European Championships held in Poreč in September this year.

During her first performance in Prague, the 22-year-old Split native defeated the experienced Netherland’s Verkerk, and then successfully "beated" the Italian Stangherlin with Wazari. She was stopped by Germany's Malzahn in the semi-finals with Wazari, but Prodan found the strength to return onto the winning track. In the battle for bronze, she used Wazari to beat the Poland's Pacut, enriching her trophy collection with another valuable medal from the continental competition in only ten days.

The Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) congratulates Karla Prodan and coach Vladimir Preradović on winning the European senior bronze, with the wish for this success to be a signpost to our female and male judokas on their path towards the Tokyo Olympics! (COC/VK)
