Aarhus, August 9, 2018 - At the World Championships in the Danish city of Aarhus, the Croatian sailing achieved the first standard for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. By taking the 20th place in Laser class, silver Olympian from Rio Tonči Stipanović reached the standard. Even though the Laser sailors struggled for the distribution of 14 standards, for Tonči the 20th place was enough.

Of course, he reached the standard for the country, but national qualification will decide on who will be the Croatian Olympian in this discipline in Tokyo. Stipanović is the biggest favorite for that, in other words - for his third Olympic performance (London 2012 and Rio 2016).
The Finals Golden Group of Lasers did the last, tenth, championship race again in troubled conditions. Filip Jurišić again made a very good tenth place, which finally led him to the 27th place at the championships.
The brilliant performance brothers Mihovil and Šime Fantela in four races of the Finals Golden Group in the discipline 49er, i.e., entering the finish 11th, 1st, 4th and 2nd brought them a second place in total with only one point behind than the leading Germans Fischer and Graf. The score differences are not great at the top, and they still have two races on Friday prior to the Saturday’s race for the medals. However, what they’ve done so far is a valuable success, given the Šime, golden Olympian from Rio, has changed in the meantime the discipline and the partner he is competing with.

Female 49er FX reached 12 races, that is, the end, where Enia Ninčević and Mihaela de Micheli Vitturi took the 27th place. On the eve of the race for medals, the Austrians Frank and Abicht are in the lead. We followed the Finn class story last night until late hours. Unfortunately, the expected outcome did not happen to us. The protest for the unbalanced tenth race was dismissed, Josip Olujić remained in the 11th place, one step from the finals and the Olympic visa for Tokyo.
In the Non-Olympic Formula Kite, Martin Dolenc shows that a lot can be expected from him, after 14 races, he took the 13th place. Concerning the RS:X windsurfers, Luka Mratović placed 63rd after ten sailings and Palma Čargo the 58th place. (coc/vk)
