Zagreb, October 10, 2019 -At the premiere edition of the World Beach Games, which will be held from 12 to 16 October in Doha (Qatar), Croatia will be represented by 13 male and one female athlete in four sports. Luka Grgorinić will perform in Aquathlon, Tomislav Stolar in Karate (Kata), Martin Dolenc in Sailing- Kitefoil, and in the team competition Croatian colors will be defended by beach handball team: Mateo Budić, Filip  Goričanec, Domagoj Grahovac, Filip Dominik  Hančić, Ivan Jurić, Tomislav  Lauš, Josip Leko, Josip  Matezović, Ivan Palac and Matej Sošić. Very important is the handball team as winner of bronze medal at the August Mediterranean Beach Games in the Greek city of Patras. Our only female athlete in Doha is Marija Dolenc in Sailing- Kitefoil.

On Friday, October 11, the day before the Opening Ceremony of the Games, our handball players will perform in the premiere match with the host, and after that with the Uruguayan team. In addition to Quatar and Uruguay, there are Hungary, Spain and Tunisia in the group B with Croatia as well.
The First World Beach Games were initiated by ANOC (Association of National Olympic Committees). The host of the premiere edition of the Games was supposed to be San Diego (California/USA), but during this year it dropped out due to financial reasons and Qatar jumped in. In Doha there will be 1240 athletes from 90 National Olympic Committees will perform in 13 sports. (COC/VK?)
