PyeongChang, February 18, 2018 – The competitions in bobsleigh started at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChong as well and - for the first time in its sport history - Croatia had its representatives in Two-men bobsleigh. At the previous three Olympic Games, Croatia competed in four-men bobsleigh only.


The pilot Dražen Silić and the pusher Benedikt Nikpalj performed in the Olympic competition first runs consisting of 30 best world bobsleighs. According to the rating, first encounter with the PyeongChang track, as well as the fact that they did just six runs in a rented Korean bobsleigh, one could not expect much from our bobsleighers.


After two runs, they took the last, 30th place with the time of 50.91, i.e. 1.64 seconds behind the leading Germans Nico Walther and Christian Poser and 33 hundredths of a second behind the penultimate Russians Andrianov and Selikov, respectively.


On Monday, our duo will be on the track again, competing in the third race, followed soon by the final - fourth race, with 20 best teams competing for the Olympic medals. (coc /vk)
