Tokyo, 29 July 2021 - Croatia's most successful rowers Valent and Martin Sinković won the title of Olympic Champions in Coxless Pairs at the extremely demanding, wavy Sea Forest Waterway track in Tokyo.

The brothers Sinković started strongly from the start in their style and immediately took the lead. After 500 meters, they were 1.16 seconds ahead the first runners-up from Denmark, and more than two seconds ahead the other four crews. After passing a half of the track, the brothers Sinković were already for the length of the boat ahead of the Romanians and Danes, and they held that advantage until the last 200-odd meters.

In the very finals, the excellent Romanians Marius Cozmiuc and Ciprian Tudosă managed to get closer, but the brothers Sinković repelled that attack and passed the finish line with 1.29 seconds of advantage. The bronze went to Danes Frederic Vystavel and Joachim Sutton.

Tokyo gold is the Sinković brothers' third Olympic medal in the third different event, after silver in Quadruple Sculls won at the London Olympics 2012 and gold in Double Sculls won at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

- We did everything we planned and agreed with our coach Bralić for the finals. We knew the Romanians were good, they tried to attack us in the finals of the race, but we managed to resist and there is no one happier than us because of the new Olympic gold - said Valent Sinković.

- What can I say, except that we again have this wonderful feeling of Olympic Champions - added Martin Sinković.

RESULTS, Men’s Coxless Pairs, Final A: 1. MARTIN AND VALENT SINKOVIĆ (CROATIA) 6:15.29, 2. Marius Cozmiuc, Ciprian Tudosă (ROU) 6:16.58, 3. Frederic Vystavel, Joachim Sutton (DEN) 6:19.88, 4.
