Tarragona, June 28, 2018 - The seventh day of competing at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona brought the Taekwondo competitions and our first two representatives have also won medals. Kristina Tomić won silver and Nikita Glasnović bronze.

In the category of up to 49 kg Tomić first beated Spain's Blanka Palmer Soler 12-5, then in Semifinals the Serbia's Vanja Stanković with a convincing 20-8 and - in fight for the brightest medal – with the so-called golden point lost by Turkish Rukiye Yildiram (11-12). Glasnović also started brilliantly, beating the Serbia’s Aleksandra Radmilović 19-8, but in the Semifinals, she lost by the Egyptian Radwa Elsayed 13-16.

 

The Croatian female volleyball team, led by interim Head Coach Frane Žanić, do not experience any defeat. They achieved the third triumph in a riw. In the Quarterfinals match, they beated Portugal 3-1 (26-24, 16-25, 28-26, 25-20). On Friday they will fight for medals against the strong Turks, as well as male volleyball team who will fight for fifth to eighth place.
With medals won by Tomić and Glasnović Croatia now counts a total of eight medals – one gold, four silver and three bronze medals. (COC/vk)
