Zagreb, January 28, 2018 - In ten days, Sarajevo and Eastern Sarajevo are hosting the 14th edition of the Winter EYOF, that is, the Winter European Youth Olympics Festival (9-16 February 2019), which will feature ten Croatian female and male athletes aged 14 to 18 years. In the Alpine skiing, our star-of-hope-representative is Tvrtko Ljutić and in the Nordic version Marko Skender (cross-country skiing) and Karlo Kunštek (biathlon). Maja Ivandić and Stribor Suman will compete in short track speed skating, while Hana Cvijanović will be our only representative in figure skating. The most numerous Croatian aces are in curling - Irena Grgić and Katarina Čar and Marin Kaspret and Sven Prinčić.

Exactly 35 years after the XIV Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, around 1,500 young female and male athletes from fifty European countries will compete in seven sports, which will remind the capital of the neighboring state of the legendary event in 1984. Sarajevo natives will once again experience the opening of a multisport games with lighting of the Olympic torch, raising the Olympic flag and placing the Olympic oath. Part of the same sports event will be the same Olympic venues as in 1984, such as the Juan Antonio Samaranch Olympic Hall, also known as Zetra (ice hockey), and ski tracks on Jahorina (slalom, giant slalom), Bjelašnica (paralel slalom, snowboard) and Igman (cross-country skiing). The mascot of the Sarajevo EYOF is the snowflake Groodvy.
