Zagreb, August 4, 2018 - Shooter Anton Glasnović, winner of silver in Trap at the European Championships in Austrian city of Leobersdorf, gave us a great overture into a successful weekend of Croatian athletes.
European Vice-Champion hit in the finals 44 out of 50 goals, two less than the winner, Slovenian Boštjan Maček (46/50). Czech Jiri Liptak took the third place. This is the first European medal for Anton Glasnović, World Vice-Champion in 2013.
To make sure that the weekend would not go without a gold medal we have to thank our most trophy-winning rowers - Valent and Martin Sinković. In the excellent finals of the Europan Championships in Glasgow for the first time they became European champions in their new discipline – Coxless Pairs. The French (Onfroy brothers) took the second place, while the Romanians (Cozmiuc, Tudosa) placed third.
In their career so far, the Golden Olympians from Rio have European gold, but in Double Sculls. The latest European triumph gives them great prospects for taking a place on the pedestal at the September’s World Cup. (coc/vk)
Heads of the Croatian Olympic Committee – President Zlatko Mateša and Secretary General Josip Čop, sent to the athletes the congratulatory notes for their successful appearances at the European Championships:
