Zagreb, November 24, 2017 - At the gala evening at Zagreb's Westin hotel, within the 46th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC), the award Piotr Nurowski was presented to the Best Young Male/Female European Athlete. According to the votes of the EOC’s Assembly members, it was 18-year-old Italian cyclist Letizia Paternoster.
There were five male and female athletes in competition – apart from the winner, the Czech shooter Filip Nepejchal, Greek sailor Dimitrios Papadimitriou, Hungarian swimmer Reka Nagy and Turkish judoka Mihrac Akkus.
The Best Young Male/Female European Athlete of the Old Continent in this election will also be awarded a cash prize in the amount of 15,000 euros.
It was the seventh edition of the award that bears the name of former Polish tennis player and President of the Olympic Committee, Piotr Nurowski, tragically killed in an airplane accident in 2010.
