Zagreb, November 22, 2017 - After Dubrovnik in 2004, Croatia is again the host of the European Olympic Committee’s (EOC) Assembly, this time on November 24 and 25, 2017 in the Crystal Hall of the Westin Hotel in Zagreb.

At the 46th General Assembly of the EOC and the accompanying events there will be 280 delegates from the National Olympic Committee of the Old Continent countries, as well as guests from all around the world.

The EOC’s Executive Committee, whose member is also the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) Zlatko Mateša, will be in session already on Thursday (November 23rd) from 9 am to 1 pm. At the opening Assembly meeting (Friday, November 24th at 9 am) Janez Kocijančič, the Head of the EOC and Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will give opening speeches. On the same day (Friday, at 2 pm), the three mentioned Presidents of the Olympic Associations (International Olympic Committee, European Olympic Committees and Croatian Olympic Committee), accompanied by the Head of ANOC, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, will meet with the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović at Pantovčak.

As part of the Gala Dinner (Friday from 8.30 pm), the members of the EOO Assembly will choose the Best European Young Athlete and present the seventh Piotr Nurowski award.
In terms of contents, the agenda of the EOC’s Assembly meeting will be abundant in reports, from audit-financial ones up to those on already held and upcoming sports events. However, at the end of the first day of the Session, the EOC’s General Assembly will also have to do some elections – in terms of electing the President, Vice-President, Secretary General, Treasurer and members of the EOC’s Executive Committee for the mandate until 2021. However, since he was the only one who announced his can candidacy for president, it is certain that Slovenia's Janez Kocijančič will remain the Head of the EOC with a new mandate.
