Zagreb, October 1, 2017 – In the presence of numerous Croatian top athletes and Olympians as well as public life notables, the closing ceremony of the European Week of Sport was held in Croatia on September 30, in the heroic city of Vukovar.

The European Week of Sport – Beactive, featuring 32 countries and more than 10,000 participants, is a unique promotion of sports and physical activity throughout Europe, organized in Croatia by the Central State Office for Sports (SDUŠ) for the third consecutive year.

In the week from September 23-30, SDUŠ and its partners engaged a large number of citizens in various sports activities; from mini-tournaments, races, workplace training up to swimming and cycling races, involving a vast range of sports recreational activities in many Croatian cities.

By updating the goals of strategic importance for the health of citizens and by raising the awareness on the importance of physical activity, SDUŠ also held a professional conference on the topic "How to enhance the physical activity of the population ".

European Week of Sport was actively supported by numerous Croatian Olympians and athletes through their participation in the same: Damir Martin, also the Vice-President of the Croatian Olympic Committee, Gordan Kožulj, Danira Bilić, Dubravko Šimenc, Josip Glasnović, Sandra Paović, Antonija Mišura Sandrić, Maida Arslanagić, etc.
