Croatian Olympic Academy

The Croatian Olympic Academy (COA) was founded following the decision of the Croatian Olympic Committee Council on 27 June 1996 in compliance with the provisions of the IOC Olympic Charter, that is, with the NOC tasks to promote the basic principles of Olympism at the national level.

The Croatian Olympic Academy acted as a Croatian Olympic Committee body until 2003, when it was registered as a public non-profit institution in accordance with the Croatian Institutions Act.

Zagreb, July 7, 2019 -Through the mediation of the European Olympic Committees (EOCs) and in cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA), the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) entered in June last year its candidate for a Master's degree in sports administration at the Russian International Olympic University in Sochi. . One year later, Iris Španjol from Zagreb successfully mastered the aforementioned educational program and acquired the title of Master in Sports Administration, confirming that it was an excellent choice of HOA and HOO for her one-year scholarship of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation.

Trogir, May 18, 2019 - As part of the finals of the World School Championships in Athletics organized by the Croatian School Sports Federation in Trogir, the winners of this year's contest School Sports and Olympic Movement were presented the awards. For the eighth consecutive year, the Croatian School Sports Federation (HŠSS) and the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) organized a contest for elementary and high school students, with participation of young authors from educational institutions across Croatia and the topic of this year's contest was Olympic poster.

Zagreb, May 17, 2019 - The 15th International Session for Presidents or Directors of the National Olympic Academies: Olympic Diplomacy and peace - Peace Education as part of Olympic Education was held in ancient Olympia in Greece. In addition to 150 directors from 86 countries from all five continents, the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) participated in the Session, represented in a very active role by its Director Saša Ceraj. At the invitation of the President of the International Olympic Academy, isidoros Kouvelos, Ceraj held a lecture on the topic of Building Bridges, not Walls: The Uniting Role of Sports among People and Countries. Ceraj, among other, pointed out:

Bol, May 2, 2019 - In cooperation with the Big Blue Diving Center, the Tourist Board of the City of Bol and the Municipality of Bol, the Croatian Olympic Academy (COA) organized the traditional international action of cleaning the Bols underwater called SUB ECO BOL as part of commemoration of the Olympic Day. This action is conducted based on the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee and its role in stimulating and supporting the environmental concerns, promoting sustainable development in sports and keeping  the Olympics in line with these ideas.

Zagreb, April 26, 2019 -Croatian School Sports Federation (HŠSS), in cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Academy (COA), has conducted for the eight year in a row, the contest named School Sports and Olympic movement. The topic of this year's contest was the Olympic poster, and the students should have imagined that the Olympics were held in their city or in the neighboring city and made a poster of these Olympic Games. This year there were 75 school sports associations from elementary and secondary schools of the Republic of Croatia that sent a total of 119 students’ works.

Zagreb, April 12, 2019 - As part of the Erasmus+ project Education through sport - shaping role models for the future, the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) held at the Zagreb hotel Westin the Workshop on Financial Responsibility and Financial Planning of Professional Athletes. Since the project is intended for ages 15 to 19, there were 55 young female and male athletes boxing, ice hockey, karate, football and handball, mostly from Zagreb clubs, that participated in the workshop.
