Zagreb, April 16, 2020 - In accordance with the new health situation and measures in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in force, this year’s International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (April 6th) was celebrated online through the international campaign #WhiteCard.

By raising the white card, this year’s campaign included the evident Croatian Olympians for the Tokyo Olympics - taekwondoka Kristina Tomić and shooter Snježana Pejčić, handball player Marin Šipić and actor Hrvoje Kečkeš. Believing that sports can help in shaping a better future and as a reference to the yellow and red card in the world of sports, the campaign #WhiteCard calls for real change and commitment to peace efforts around the world.

- The world of sports experienced new challenging circumstances, but through a joint cooperation between the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO), the Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) and the Croatian United Nations Association (HDUN) it was once again proven that the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 are a list of tasks that each of us can accomplish with minimal effort. As tradition, the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, meets goal no. 17 - Partnerships for the Goals. This way we thank everyone once again for participating in the #WhiteCard campaign and invite you to contribute together to achieving these goals for a better tomorrow – says the message of the Croatian Olympic Academy’s Head Saša Ceraj.
