Zagreb, October 20, 2018 – International Olympic Committee’s workshop “IOC Athlete Career Program Outreach” for young athletes on the possibilities of achieving a new career after the completion of an active sports career was held at the Westin hotel in Zagreb. Most often, it refers to business careers in the labor market.
The workshop, designed by the IOC, was organized - on behalf of the Croatian Olympic Academy - by the Head of the Olympism Promotion Committee Ana Popovčić, who led the greatest part of the workshop. In addition to that, the workshop leaders were once a prominent athlete and Olympian Ana Jelušić, an associate of the International Olympic Committee and lead educator for the IOC's Dual Career programs and Martina Špiljak of Addeco Group. A special guest at the workshop was the boxer Željko Mavrović who gave young athletes an excellent lecture on his own experience concerning the completion of the sports career and career change. Besides Željko Mavrović, the guest at the workshop was also until recently the best European Table Tennis player Zoran Primorac who also works as an IOC educator in Dual Career programs.
Among the participants of the workshop were our top tennis player Ana Konjuh, National Boxing Team members Toni Filipi (silver medalist at the Mediterranean Games), Marko Milun and Petar Cetinić, Junior World Champions in rowing Josipa and Ivana Jurković, best Croatian figure skaters Hana Cvijanović and Katarina Kitarović and speed skaters Danijela Ivandić and Martin Kolenc, top shooter Valentina Gustin, karate champions Karlo Raguž and Luka Kondić, kayak champions Luka Obadić, Jadran Zonjić and Ivan Tolić, State Champion in golf Marko Stepinac, State Champion in fencing Ana Mesić and members of the National Junior Ice Hockey Team.
After the completion of the workshop, all the participants rated the workshop - in the anonymous poll – as excellent and very useful for future life. (COA/COC)
