Zagreb, July 4, 2018 - The Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) has organized the third of six planned educational workshops on Olympism and Olympic values for elementary school students, the project that was launched at the end of June as part of the Olympic Day celebration.
The workshop is held at the Children's Sports Camp of the Sports Facilities Management at the Sports Park Mladost. It started on June 19, continued on June 26 and with the third edition on July 3 it reached "halfway".
- The International Olympic Committee's recommendation to mark the Olympic Day within a one-month period or two weeks, that is, two weeks before and two weeks after the celebration date June 23. The Croatian Olympic Committee received the officially approval by the IOC to celebrate this year the Olympic Day in the period from April 20 to July 12 - explained Ana Popovčić from the Croatian Olympic Academy.
Each workshop is attended by 60 children and each educational workshop lasts one school hour. In an interactive way, children learn about the antique Olympic games, the modern Olympic Movement and its founder Pierre de Coubertin and about the Olympic values. Apart from Ana Popovčić from the Croatian Olympic Academy, Stjepan Crnokić from the Croatian School Sports Federation and student of the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, Marko Vukasović, this year's participant of the International Symposium for Young People's Olympic Academy in Greek Olympia, are included in the realization of the workshop. As part of this Croatian Olympic Academy’s valuable project, the next workshops will be held on July 10, 17 and 24 this year. (COC/apo/vk)
