Tennis was present at the Olympics already at the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, however, after the Olympics in Paris in 1924, it was dropped out of the Olympic program until the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984, when it returned as demonstration sports. After that, tennis was reintroduced as a full medal sport at Seoul Olympics 1988.
The first Croatian tennis players participating at the Games were the female tennis players Renata Šašak and Sabrina Goleš, who has also won a silver medal (Los Angeles Olympics 1984).
The first medals won under the Croatian flag were the ones won by Goran Ivanišević - bronze medals in Men’s Singles and in Men’s Doubles with Goran Prpić (Barcelona Olympics 1992).
Ivan Ljubičić and Mario Ančić are the winners of bronze Olympic medals (Athens Olympics 2004).
