ZAGREB, 18 June 2008 - At its second meeting, held at the Croatian Olympic Committee headquarters in Zagreb, the Croatian Fair Play Committee, chaired by Biserka Perman, adopted a number of actions, by which the Croatian Olympic Committee, the founder of the Croatian Fair Play Committee, wishes to point out to the role and significance of fair play in sports, but also in everyday life. The Committee set out to continuously follow all positive and negative happenings in Croatian sport to apply the principle that the International Fair Play Committee follows – fair play is the heart of sport, and sport is what we make it. The members of the Croatian Fair Play Committee coming from the Croatian Olympic Committee, Croatian Sports Journalists Association and Croatian Olympians Club agree that education on the importance and role of fair play must start already in kindergarten and elementary school, so special brochures, posters and flyers will be made for that purpose. The Committee will draw up a Fair Play Declaration, which, to start with, will be signed by all Croatian Olympians before they go to Beijing. Furthermore, the Committee has taken upon itself to introduce fair play recognition; the nomination of candidates will be organized in cooperation with national sports associations. A special link for that purpose will be placed on the Croatian Olympic Committee website.
