Zagreb, January 25, 2018 - Ahead of the forthcoming Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea prepared a reception and dinner for Croatian Olympians and members of the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Olympic Mission in their homeland.
His Excellency Won-sup Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Croatia, was an excellent host, while the Croatian delegation was led by President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Mateša. The ceremony at the Korean Embassy was also attended by Olympians, members of the Croatian bobsleigh Dražen Silić, Benedikt Nikpalj, Mate Mezulić and Ivan Šola, and – for us the greatest sensation of Olympic qualifications – the luger Daria Obratov.
In a pleasant conversation, along with traditional Korean specialties, the Ambassador Won-sup-Park has shown respectable knowledge of Croatian sports, but also about the Croatian coast, economic potentials, wines... The President Mateša informed H.E. with the history of the state relations of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Korea, with a tradition of 25 years, and invited Korean companies with representatives in the Republic of Croatia to sponsor Croatian sport.
The Olympians were also delighted with the reception and hospitality of the host, as well as with the entire staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. Luger Daria Obratov could not find enough words to express her enthusiasm, while the bobsleigh crew stated that adapting to the Korean "kitchen" would not be a problem.
His Excellency Won-sup Park wished Croatian athletes a successful performance at the Winter Olympics in his homeland. (coc/vk)
