Zagreb, February 20th -  Five young Croatian athletes participated at the 13th Olympic Winter European Youth Festival (EYOF), the event that brings together athletes from 14 to 18 years of age, held in the Turkish city of Erzurum from February 12th to February 17th, 2017. In the competition of their peers from 33 European countries, our athletes rounded up their performance in four of nine sports on the program with silver medal won by alpine skier Leon Nikić in Slalom and great results of Katarina Kitarović in Figure Skating and Gabrijela Skender in Cross-Country Skiing.  

Besides the silver medalist Nikić, Kitarović and Skender, the Croatian Sports Delegation - headed by the Chief of the Mission Damir Šegota – comprised also the biathletes Dora Kurečić and Ana Radošević.                                                                                                                                                              

Until this year’s participation at the Olympic Winter Festivals, our young athletes have won three medals, all in Alpine Skiing - Ana Jelušić (Bled, 2003) and Leona Popović (Vorarlberg / Liechtenstein, 2015) gold, and Sofija Novoselić (Jaca, 2007) a bronze medal. (hoo/rj)
