Until these elections, the President was another prominent Olympian, swimmer and sports official Gordan Kozulj, who was also a member of the COC Council. Josip Pavic shall also become a member of the Council after the appointment is adopted by the COC Assembly, which should be held on November 26th.The Olympian Josip Pavic, athlete with international reputation, is a gold winner at the London Olympics in 2012, FINA's (International Swimming Federation) 2012 male water polo athlete of the year, winner of the world's gold and three bronze medals, European gold and gold at the Mediterranean Games in 2013 in Mersin.Members of Commission were also discussing the current problems of top athletes, especially concerning the education and possible initiatives of the Commission that would contribute to quality solutions.Athletes? Commission is a permanent body of the COC, established in September 2012 in accordance with the Olympic Charter and the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee. Its task is to represent the active athletes and participate in the bodies of the COC, with the goal of taking into account the opinions and attitudes of athletes in decision making procedure.The representatives of summer Olympic sports, six of them, were selected by the Olympians at the Olympic Games London 2012, and the representatives of the winter Olympic sports (two) and non-olympic sports (two) were suggested by the appropriate national sports federations. The following members were selected: Sandra Mandir (basketball), Marijana Miskovic (judo), Snjezana Pejcic (shooting), Marin Cilic (tennis), Zlatko Horvat (handball), Josip Pavic (water polo), Natko Zrncic Dim (skiing), Andrijana Stipanicic Mrvelj (biathlon), Ana Maria Celan (karate) and Istvan Varga (dance sport). The mandate of Commission members from summer and non-olympic sports is four years, while the mandate of representatives of winter Olympic sports shall last until Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014, when the Olympians shall select two representatives at the Games.
