Zagreb, 25 January 2016 - The Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) and the Memorial center Dražen Petrović (MDP) signed on Monday, January 25, the Agreement on cooperation in the implementation of program on promotion of Olympism under the name "Olympic Ideals - Dražen Petrović ".


The aim of the cooperation is to promote the fundamental principles of Olympism and cultural dimension of sports as well as popularization and spreading of the Olympic idea on joining sports with culture and education through the figure and work of Dražen Petrović, one of the best Croatian and world basketball players, Olympic Champion and holder of three Olympic medals.


The program intended for students in elementary and high schools in the Republic of Croatia will be carried out in the workshops held at the Museum of Dražen Petrović during the school hours in 2016. With a short lecture on the life of Dražen Petrović - whose monument proudly stands, since 1995, in the park of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne and who was included in the Basketball Hall of Fame that same year - the emphasis will be put on learning the importance of these facts not only for Croatian sports but also for the Croatian culture and Croatia in the world. Each school delegation will get a present two educational comic about Drazen Petrovic for the needs of the school library, two basketball with the image of Drazen Petrovic for teaching physical education at school and a wall poster for each participant of the workshop.


The Agreement was signed by Director of the Croatian Olympic Academy Saša Ceraj and Director of the Museum-Memorial Center Dražen Petrović Aleksandra Vlatković, in the presence of Biserka Petrović, President of the Board of the Foundation Dražen Petrović and Dražen's mother and Danira Bilić, Head of Department for Promotion of Olympism at the Croatian Olympic Academy.
