ZAGREB, February 16, 2016 - Croatian Olympic Academy (HOA) selected Nika Jukić and Romana Tea Kirinić, students of the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Zagreb, to participate at the 56th Young Participants Session.


The Session will be held from June 11 to 25 inOlympia, Greece, organized by the International Olympic Academy (MOA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Twelve candidates applied for the Session, and the criteria of the Commission for selection of participants were primarily grade point average, sports status, expressed interest in Olympism, additional education, knowledge of French, English or Greek language and knowledge of the history of sports, Olympic movement and Olympism. The competition is intended for regular students of Faculty of Kinesiology and Faculty of Social and Humanistic Orientation of the age of 20-35 years.


The main topic of this year's Session is “Olympism as an effective tool for development and sustainability”, with a special topic of “Olympic Values-based learning as an effective tool for environmental protection”. This is the oldest educational activity of the International Olympic Academy that brings together the students from 100-odd countries around the world, with the goal to motivate young people to use their experiences and knowledge gained at the Session productively in promoting the Olympic ideals and educating others in their own countries.
