ZAGREB, 1 February 2010 – Croatia's Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Minister of Science, Education and Sport Radovan Fuchs, IOC Member Antun Vrdoljak, T-HT CEO Ivica Mudrinic, President of the Croatian Olympic Committee and its Secretary General Josip Cop attended the press conference of the Croatian Olympic Committee held on 1 February 2010. Almost the whole Croatian Olympic Delegation to Vancouver was presented at the Education Centre of T-HT (Croatian Telecom), general sponsor of the Croatian Olympic Committee.

To date, it is known that 19 athletes have qualified for Vancouver – ten in the Alpine skiing, two in the cross country skiing, two in the biathlon and five in the four-man bobsleigh.

2006 Olympic silver medallist from Turin and internationally acclaimed Alpine skier Ivica Kostelic addressed the media and prominent sports and state officials on behalf of the athletes. First, I wish everybody to be healthy, because I personally know how important it is. I would like to thank Madam Prime Minister Kosor and Government members for supporting sport and I hope they will keep on doing it. I trust that we will bring at least one medal from Vancouver.

Croatia's Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor offered words of support and encouragement to the Olympic athletes: Make your dreams come true and then we will be satisfied with your results. I was at the European Handball Championship final in Vienna on Sunday and I comforted our silver medallists. I told them that they shouldn't be disappointed, that they should imagine how great it would be if Croatia were the second in Europe in economy, education or in any other area. Exactly this perseverance, wish to achieve the objective and spirit found in our athletes is what I would like to introduce in the work of the Government, said the Prime Minister, also wishing Croatia's Olympic athletes a lot of health.

President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Matesa said that the Vancouver Olympic Games project had been under way for 30 months and he had no doubt that Croatian athletes would be successful at the Games. He especially thanked the Croatian Government for the support. In that period, 38 athletes and 4 coaches were beneficiaries of the Vancouver Olympic Games Program. A total of 13,823,356 kunas were used between 2007 and 2010, while an additional amount of 1,318,600 kunas was planned for January and part of February.
