XXII Winter Olympic Games Sochi 2014 was held from 7 till 23 February 2014 with participation of 2873 athletes from 88 countries. At the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Games were open by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Olympic cauldron was lit by Russian ice-skater Irina Rodnina and ice-hockey player Vladislav Tretjak.

At the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Games were open by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Olympic cauldron was lit by Russian ice-skater Irina Rodnina and ice-hockey player Vladislav Tretjak.

Croatian Olympic Team had 11 athletes; 8 athletes competed in alpine skiing, two in cross country and one in snowboard. Three times Olympian Ivica Kostelic was flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony (Sochi Olympics was his fourth Games) and cross country athlete and first time Olympian Vedrana Malec was flag bearer at the Closing Ceremony.

Alpine skier Ivica Kostelić won silver medal in men's super-combined, the third consecutive Olympics in which he finished second in the event. Totally Kostelic won 4 silver Olympic medals (Torino 2006 silver in slalom and super-combined, Vancouver 2010 silver in super-combined and now Sochi 2014 silver in super-combined).
