RIO DE JANEIRO, August 16, 2016 (Hina) – The World’s Best Discus Thrower Sandra Perković has won on Tuesday, August 16, a gold medal at the Rio Olympics with a throw of 69,21 meters, defending thus her Olympic title won at the Olympics in London in 2012.
Perković has thus continued her world domination in Discus Throw, which lasts since 2010. This season she has already won gold at the European Championships in Amsterdam and secured the title of the Diamond League Winner.
Sandra Perković has become the second female athlete in the history to retain the consecutive Olympic Women’s Discus Throw gold medal. The German athlete Evelin Jahl has won gold in Montreal in 1976 and again four years later in Moscow.
This is the fourth Croatian medal at the Rio Olympics, after gold won by Josip Glasnović in Trap, gold won by Martin and Valent Sinković in Men’s Double Sculls and silver won by Damir Martin in men’s Single Sculls.
French athlete Melina Robert-Michon (66.73 m) is the winner of silver medal, while the Cuban Denia Caballero (65.34 m) has won bronze.
