Zagreb, July 19, 2016 - President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received in her Office in Pantovčak the representatives of the Croatian Olympic delegation that will soon travel to Rio de Janeiro, where the Games of the XXXI. Olympiad shall take place from August 5th to August 21st, 2016. At the reception, the evident athletes, 19 of them - athletes, swimmers, wrestlers, water polo and basketball players and rowers, along with six coaches, represented the entire delegation consisting of 168 members, of which 86 athletes.

 

"Since the Croatian independence until today, the Croatian athletes have been and are representing Croatia in the world in the best possible way, promoting true sports and human values. Since your first appearance at the Olympics 24 years ago, through your relationship to your homeland, your loyalty and combativeness you, athletes-members of the Croatian Olympic Teams, make us all extremely proud and leave us unforgettable memories", said the President. "You are the best our sport has today. I'm sure you've worked hard and prepared, and I believe that you are ready to perform in the sports arenas. I wish you all a lot of sports success, with a wish to once again meet here after your return and celebrate the medals", added Grabar-Kitarović.

 

"Our athletes, 86 of them, along with their coaches and other supporting parties are a guarantee that upon their return we will all celebrate the success of our sports", said the president of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Mateša and thanked the President on behalf of the Croatian Olympic Family for the continuous support and care she expresses for the Croatian sports.
