Mediterranean Games Bari 1997

 

Croatian athletes, who had contributed to this competition and its significance in the development of international sport from the very beginning, participated in the XIII Mediterranean Games, held in Bari from 13 to 25 June 1997, for the second time under their own flag. The 239 members of the Croatian delegation, led by Chef de Mission Matija Ljubek, competed in 26 sports and won 33 medals: 6 gold, 16 silver and 11 bronze.

On the occasion of the 1997 Mediterranean Games, the Croatian Olympic Committee published a publication – guidebook titled Bari 1997 Croatian Mediterranean Team. Its cover was designed by eminent Croatian designer Boris Ljubičić, who also designed the official symbol and flag of the VIII Mediterranean Games held in Split in 1979.
