Croatian Olympic Committee's "Fair Play" award for 2006 presented to the table tennis club Obrtnička škola-Brod (vocational school) from Slavonski Brod. While fighting to remain in the second tier of the Croatian Table Tennis League – division East, there were two clubs deeply worried about the results of the competition in Slavonski Brod. At the end, the host – Table tennis club Obrtnička škola – Brod, has won with almost no competition at all.

Namely, their opponent, the table tennis club Nostro from Čakovec didn't show up at the scheduled time for the game due to the organizer's error. That morning, the organizers– instead of sending the Čakovec team to Slavonski Brod – sent them to Osijek, where the team should have played the game with the table tennis club Olimpija, but – in the afternoon. Even though the table tennis club Obrtnička škola - Brod could have, by citing the rules of the competition, had the match registered as 4-0 (max. result) and thereby secure their place in the second tier of the Croatian Table Tennis League, they decided to wait for their "late" opponents and test their skills at the green table. In the end, they lost 3-4 and thus they lost the chance to remain in the second tier of the League. However, their honorable act in this situation was actually the victory of the table tennis club Obrtnička škola - Brod, which has won the third tier of the Croatian Table Tennis League – division Slavonija in the season 2006/2007.

Fair play is often not only the absence of players' roughness, but also a genuine appreciation of other people's mistakes. This Slavonian club has proven that it has raised its generation of athletes in the Olympic spirit and understanding in sports – the very Fair Play.
